Company of Wolves

(1984) Neil Jordan

This 1984 movie still holds up as fairy tale figures move though a magical world. Innocents, morals and growing up play out on the screen with a Brothers Grimm styling. We see dark spaces and strange situations play out beautifully. Wonderful cinematography and sometimes startling visuals speak to us about love lost and virtue at risk. COMPANY is a horror movie and that is it’s base for sure, but it’s beautiful and smart, steering clear of today’s “Set ‘em up, knock ‘em down” style movies of today. Another film that walks the line of dreams, this is a must see if you care about story and visuals and dark fairy tales like that of the Brothers Grimm.
